It's Great to be 8!

Stockton turned 8 in January. Turning 8 means he had a decision to make. For months before his birthday, he knew that turning 8 meant he could get baptized. Leading up to his birthday Stuart and I made sure to have many conversations with him about what being baptized means, and what covenants are, and what covenants he would be making with his Heavenly Father. He had a few questions, but mostly he was nervous that he had to have a meeting with the bishop! He was so cute and practically shaking in his boots. It didn't matter how many times we reminded him that it wasn't a test, it was just a conversation, and that the bishop is our neighbor, the same neighbor who always says hello when we see him, and cheers him on when he is playing basketball in the street. When the interview was over he was grinning ear to ear and loved the new CTR tie tack he got from the Bishop.

February 7th was his baptism day. It was a crazy day for our family, but it was a beautiful day. He was glowing and couldn't stop smiling. It was awesome to have so much family around.
He was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, by his dad! Look how happy they both are!

I love you Stockton! Thank you for being such a fun and amazing kid! You teach me so much each day! I hope this world never finds a way to squash the light you were sent to earth with. It is radiant, and seeps from you at every turn. Your nervous energy over new experiences makes me crazy, but it's demanding nature gives me a chance to really connect with you when I submit to it! You are my little Momma's boy but as you are getting older you are finding times when you would prefer to have your Dad. This is new for mom, but I love watching you branch out and connect with him. Thanks for being a light in our family! Our lives would be so boring without you!
