Why is it that the last month you are pregnant feels like it drags on and on lasting forever, but that first sweet month of baby's life seems to fly so fast past you it feels like you almost missed it? Lainey turned 1 month old yesterday and I just couldn't figure out where the month went. Our lives are better and happier with her in them.
Facts from the first month:
- Her billi counts were high, so they made us stay an extra night at the hospital. I made them keep her in the nursery so I didn't have to listen to her fuss and cry the entire night. They brought her to me for feedings, but other than that, I let them deal with the bad parts!

- Her face got bruised during birth. 24 hours later you couldn't see it unless you knew what to look for, and 48 hours later it was gone completely
 |
| On her way home! |
- She is seriously well loved by her three older siblings. They can often be heard fighting over who's turn it is to hold her. Stuart started a really fun thing during his time off work. He would take her in to each of them and let her wake them up in the morning. They all love it, and aren't nearly as grumpy when we have Lainey wake them up.
- Stockton can't get enough of her. He loves her but he doesn't always know how to treat her. He isn't trying to be mean, he is just a bull in a china shop! He LOVES holding her, she doesn't tolerate it so well. Any time he walks past her or she catches his attention, he has to stop and give her a kiss
- Preston is a great big brother. When we first brought her home he was always really nervous and stiff when he would hold her. He got lots of practice, and lots of encouragement. We let him know he was doing just fine and he wasn't going to break her. He enjoys stealing time with her and trying to keep her happy. He is always willing to help out and hold her when mom needs both her hands.
- Emma absolutely adores Lainey, and loves having her own personal living doll at home. She wants to hold her and love on her every chance she gets. She has to check in with her often and tells her how much she missed her while she was at school every day. I love the picture above. Sweetest thing ever!
- It took 16 days for her umbilical cord stump to fall off! That thing just would not let go!
- She gained 2 entire pounds in her first moth of life. At about 2 and a half weeks we noticed her little double chin had shown up, and she already has rolls on her thighs! LOVE IT! She lasted 2 weeks in newborn diapers, and 2 1/2 weeks in newborn clothes.

- She met lots of family, some friends, and had LOTS of visitors. Her mommy loved that!
 |
| Aunt Melanie |
 |
| Aunt Suzie (Ryan, Jake and Will were there too!) |

Grandma Conger would spend all day every day holing her if she could!
Grandpa Humes -His job is to make sure we don't spoil her |
- She finally got to take her first REAL bath on January 20th. She was 17 days old. She LOVES bath time, and will lay there letting you pour water over her as long as the water is warm. She LOVES getting lotion rubbed all over her little self after a bath. She HATES getting dressed once bath time is over.
 |
| This is what she looks like when she wants to eat. I am horrible and think its cute when she cries! |
- She loves to eat, and will chow as often as I will feed her. She is a great eater, but a horrible burper.
 |
| I love those little hands! |
- She is a typical newborn and sleeps like a champ as long as the sun is out and the house is hopping. When its dark and quiet, its another story entirely. To say I am sleep deprived would be putting it lightly.
- She has been given many nicknames in her short life. Among them are:
- Lainey Painy
- Lainey Complainy
- Lainey Bug
- And my favorite, Grunty McGrunterson
- We have gotten a few real smiles out of her and they melt us like putty!
Having another baby was one of the best decisions we have ever made. We feel so lucky to have her in our home and as a part of our forever family.
