13 Months in Pictures

It is not lost on me that this blog has been neglected. I have failed to document any part of our lives over the last 13+ months. I am sad about this, and hope to do better. In order to catch you up to all the happeneings in the Humes family, I have decided to give you the (very) condensed version in pictures. Hopefully this means the beginning of blogging again, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

Lets start back where we left off shall we? First, there were the May Day dances.
Emma was a cheeta, dancing to "Move it Move it" and lucky enough to be right by her cousin Alisha! Too cute!

Preston and the Third Graders did the four square dance to Cotton Eyed Joe. This is him and his friend Oakley. They loved to harrass each other all year long in class and were partners for the dance!

Preston played his last season of coach pitch baseball. He had a good season, and continued to LOVE baseball!

Preston worked hard on his third grade report on Thomas Jefferson, and was even the student chosen from his class to present his report to all the other third graders and parents. He worked so hard memorizing his entire report, and he was amazing!

Preston turned 9 and had a swimming party. I found out that I really really do hate throwing birthday parties. My poor children! :)

We spent lots of time in the mountains over the summer. As always there is the Leavitt reunion where my children run all over the mountain with cousins, and I hardly know where they are, just like a good mom does!

The kids went back to school in August. Preston was in Miss Simkins 4th grade class, and Emma was in Miss Larson's 2nd grade class. This was Stockton's last year at home with mom. He goes to school for real this year! :)

Stockton started doing chores, and he found interesting ways to get them done. Apparently each wash cloth needed it own pile.

Emma turned 8 and got a new bike for her birthday. She loved it. It meant that the kids could ride their bikes to school in the mornings.

Emma chose to get her ears pierced as part of her birthday celebration. She almost backed out, but was so happy she had been brave once it was done. She did an awesome job taking care of them and making sure they stayed clean.

Turning 8 also meant she had the opportunity to choose to be baptized. She was beautiful all dressed in white and was baptized on December 3.

Halloween was interesting. The boys were pirates and had a great time. Emma was a pink spider girl, but had to stay home because she got the pukes. :(

Even Stuart got in the halloween spirit and dressed up for school. He looked pretty freaky as a zombie clown. Stockton hated it and still won't look at the pictures.

I had the opportunity to coach cross country in the fall. I loved it. It was a great experience, and I will be coaching this coming fall as well. This was our team after division.

Another Christmas came and went. We had a good holiday season full of family, and good food, caroling with friends, and a great Christmas morning.

Stockton turned 5 and got a "big boy bike". It didn't take too long for him to learn to ride without training wheels. He turned into a speed demon, and had many road rash wounds to prove it!

Stuart spent another season stalking the sidelines as the 8th grade basketball coach. He loves coaching!

Emma finally let herself be talked into playing a sport. Once she got over the "people are going to watch me" nerves, she has a blast. She did really well too, and was quite the little defender. Dad was proud!

Preston played basket ball again, and loved it. He is getting better all the time. He loves going to open gyms with his dad.

We bought a house in March, and it needed a good deal of TLC before we could move in and make it ours.

Even the kids got in on the work and spent some time here helping. They got to pick their own paint colors. Emma LOVED getting to paint her own room.  We finally got to move in a few weeks ago and we are in love with our new home! :)

Stockton was always jealous when the kids would climb the trees. Well, he found a way to get up there, but then he propmtly got himself stuck! I had to climb up and lift him up and out to get him down. He wasn't happy, but it was pretty funny.

May Day Dances came around again. Emma and the second graders did a hula style dance. They always LOVE the may day dances. This is Emma with her BFF Lynsie.

This is Preston and the 4th graders doing the disco. He wasn't super excited about doing it, but he came through in the end and he did a good job.

Preston did his 4th grade country report on Brazil. They did all of the work on the report in class, and were in charge of doing a project at home. He drew the map he is standing beside all free hand. He worked hard and did a great job.

Preston played his first season of kid pitch baseball. He spent some time on the pitchers mound and did really well. It turns out it is hard on the mom when she has her boy on the mound. This boy loves baseball.

And last but not least Preston tunred 10. He loves that he is getting older, and loves being in double digits. I hate that my little boy is growing up so fast, but I guess that's the name of the game.
Well here goes nothing. Hopefully this is the beginning of many more posts to come.
